Renovating Your Bali Villa? Give the Furniture a Break Too

New floors sound wonderful until you realise everything sitting on the old ones needs somewhere to go. Moving furniture into storage can give your renovation team room to work and keep everyday belongings out of the dust—without turning every untouched room into a crowded holding area.

Renovating Your Bali Villa? Give the Furniture a Break Too — Bali Safe Storage guide

Walk through the villa before reaching for boxes

Look at the project with your contractor: which rooms need to be empty, where will materials move, and where is dust likely to travel? A sofa under a sheet might still be in everybody's way.

List what can leave for the full project and what you still need day to day. Photograph condition and measure the bigger pieces before asking for a unit recommendation.

Pack for a return, not just a removal

Label cartons by room so they arrive back where they belong. Keep fixings with dismantled furniture, protect corners and delicate finishes, and dry everything thoroughly before wrapping.

For fabrics, equipment or sensitive pieces, share any special requirements with the team. Cool storage may be worth discussing, but the right packing still matters.

Do the transport conversation early

  • Share the pickup address and any narrow access or parking limits.
  • Mention stairs, lifts and heavy or unusually shaped items.
  • Choose the person who will check and authorise the handover.
  • Keep an inventory and photos available at both ends.
  • Ask for pickup and return-delivery costs separately from the unit rental.

Plan for the finish date to move

A contractor's target date is a good starting point, not a reason to leave no flexibility. Ask how an extension works before booking your initial storage period.

If work takes longer, request new dates and a revised charge before the rental ends. An earlier payment covers its agreed period, not another month automatically. Update any return-delivery arrangement at the same time.

Bring things back when the room is ready

Let the contractor advise on drying, dust, cleaning and safe access before scheduling delivery. A freshly finished room may need time before it is ready for furniture.

Check the inventory as goods return and tell the receiving team where the main pieces belong. Your renovation has had enough decisions already; clear labels can make this last stage much calmer.

A common renovation question

Can some things come back before the rest?

Explain the phased return you have in mind. The team can confirm access, transport availability and any separate handling or delivery charges.
